Q. How long has TechTroops been operating?
A. TechTroops was launched in January 2003 under our previous brand, TechMedic Solutions, to provide computer troubleshooting, training and maintenance support to home and small/medium business customers. The TechTroops brand was launched in April 2006 celebrating the fact that rather than just being a medic in times of need, our growing team of experts offers a breadth of services covering everything technical.

Q. What are the trading hours of a TechTroops franchise?
A. A TechTroops franchise will operate whenever a customer has the need for our service. Generally work can be carried out during normal business hours, but in the event of urgent jobs, out of hours and weekend work may be necessary.

Q. What is the cost of setting up a territory?
A. A TechTroops franchise costs between $31,000-$37,000 which includes your franchise fee, full training and opening stock. The initial costs vary and depend upon what you already own (such as a laptop, BlackBerry, car etc). The set-up cost will be reviewed and refined prior to concluding an agreement.

Q. What other payments are made to the Franchisor?
A. Apart from the costs mentioned above, ongoing fees include a Franchise Service Fee of 10% of gross revenue and Marketing Levy of 5% of gross revenue. (The Marketing levy reduces to 2.5% if you decide to invest in a complying TechTroops branded vehicle).

Q. How long is The Franchise Agreement for?
A. The term of the Franchise Agreement is for 5 years initially. Our aim is to establish a long term relationship with our Franchisees and there is an option for a second five year term.

Q. Will I be trained?
A. Your training is vital to the success of your business. We place great emphasis on making sure our Franchisees are well trained. Our training programme is designed specifically to overcome any lack of experience you may have in running a business. The business is designed to be a simple operation with regular ongoing support.

Q. Can I sell my business?
A. You can sell your business at any time during the term of the agreement. However the business must be sold to an acceptable operator approved by TechTroops and the new Franchisee must agree to the terms and conditions in the then current Franchise Agreement.

Q. What are the operating costs and returns?
A. The Franchisor will provide basic information for you to prepare your own financial analysis and a business plan. Together we will assist you prepare estimates for the start-up expenses and stock required. It is recommended that you obtain accounting and legal advice to assist you to make an assessment of the likely returns on your investment.

Q. What type of people are you looking for?
A. We are looking for individuals with a passion for IT. Specifically, the applicant should have a good analytical mind for IT troubleshooting and a sound knowledge of networking and other common IT issues.

A TechTroops franchisee will have ambition, initiative & integrity. They will have good personal communication skills and the ability to manage themselves and their time. The franchisee should be planning to actively work in the franchise operation.
