| Nick Harvey - Troop Commander
Nick's three passions in life are sport, business and family. Nick represented Australia in Rugby union at every level up to Australia A and spent 6 years abroad playing in England and France . He captained Northern Suburbs in the late '90's and was the youngest person to win the AAMI medal for the best and fairest in the Sydney/Canberra competition in 1995. He also ran out many times for the Waratahs and had a stint with the Brumbies.
In business, Nick has always followed his passion for IT. He ran a successful Sydney-based ISP (internet service provider) throughout the 90's long before the scene became dominated by the big telcos. Many and varied technical roles have kept things interesting throughout his career including being integral in the network rollout inside a major bank.
Mike Lynch - One of the troops
Mike comes from a diverse background of musicianship, new media and a long history with computers. Having played in bands and produced music since his teens, Mike regularly performs as a musician in several Sydney ensembles. Starting his career as a crew member in film and video special effects, gradually moving into the IT industry through a programming and web development background, Mike has had a broad range of experience in numerous facets of technology.
Mark Whitely - One of the troops
Mark can often be spotted on a weekend leaping around the beaches playing beach volleyball at which he has featured in the NSW championships. Other interests include scuba diving, tennis, wakeboarding, camping, surfing and travelling. His passion for IT has placed him in desktop / server support roles at Fairfax Media and AOL and other high profile companies. On top of all this, Mark has an extensive knowledge of A/V equipment setup and can make sense of even the most complex home theatre setup.
Toivo Talikka - One of the troops
Toivo has been involved in IT for more than 30 years (originally in his native Finland).
Toivo has been in Australia since 1980 and has also worked in Papua New Guinea for 4 years. He has been employed by computer manufacturers in several countries and more recently worked in various network and desktop support roles for companies in the Sydney CBD. Toivo’s interests are bushwalking, genealogy and maintaining his home network to keep up with the needs of a digitally empowered family. He is also keen to fight spyware on all fronts, promotes open source software and writes web based database applications.
Dan Simmonds - One of the troops
Dan has years of IT experience under his belt ranging from programming and system administrator roles to website development. At home Dan can be found playing his accordion, baking bread or taking computers apart. He currently lays claim to no fewer than 7 PC's in various stages of repair in his house. Dan is also the authorative figure on video gaming.
